Installation of a new 2-hour fire rated enclosure encompassing 6 storeys and connected to the historic Grade II* Listed Generating Station building situated adjacent to Bristol’s 19th Century Floating Harbour.
Created to provide the building with an additional emergency escape staircase with integrated wheelchair refuges and incorporate extra toilet facilities, only accessible from within the Generator Building, on each of the 6 newly reconfigured floors.
To maximise the available ground space, it was constructed to finish only inches away from the adjacent building in a gap only 3m wide.
Main construction comprised of steelwork for the supporting structure and staircase, timber floors, with British Gypsum shaft walls to the internal faces and a part basement and ground floor brick external finish with Kingspan insulated panels for the remaining 5 floors.
At roof level, a louvred and slatted panel system was installed to house the AHU plant equipment.
